Ask WicksteadWorks

Green does not have to do with a political affiliation. Green building and construction methods
have to do with energy efficiency, sustainability, and air quality. Wickstead Works is committed
to doing our part to build more responsible structures. Our company is able to make a significant difference by reducing the energy and water consumption on each of our projects.

Our minimum construction standard is Earthcraft which is a third party certification and inspection
process that elevates our projects well above what is required by State code. Earthcraft effects
energy efficiency by promoting The Energy Star program, as defined by the US EPA, which we
make a standard on every project. Earthcraft effects sustainability by promoting proper flashing
techniques, back priming of exterior trim, foundation details, etc. Earthcraft effects air quality by
promoting crawl space, HVAC, insulation, and emission standards. We have adopted Earthcraft
because it is a better product and is a smarter investment for our clientele.

We are also trained to certify homes by LEED standards. LEED is a certification defined by the
US Green Building Council. This certification elevates a structure to the pinnacle of modern green
building methods. Although this certification is not practical for every project, aspects of LEED can
be integrated into every home. LEED promotes smart site selection, the use of recycled and regional
materials, self sustaining systems like wind, solar, hydrothermal, greywater and rainwater collection
for reuse amongst other advanced building techniques.

We have found the systems that are here-and-now technology that save our clients money from
day one. We prove that a properly built home can add $25.00 to a monthly mortgage payment but
save $100.00 in monthly utilities. The utility expenses from our average 2nd story additions do not increase.

Why Green? We build green because our primary concern is to build the best possible project and
to wisely spend our client’s money.
